Lollipop Baby Camera

Hey everyone! So today I have a post about my experience with the Lollipop Baby Monitor for you! When I was pregnant with J, we shopped and researched and really tried to find a good monitor system, because frankly I didn’t love the Summer set up we used when K was little. So, we spent our time, and hard earned money, and bought one that we thought would be great. But sadly, we ended up disappointed again, the baby monitor world is tough. I was quite excited to try the lollipop system, and I had some high expectations also. In the spirit of transparency, I want to be honest in saying that Lollipop gave me a discount in exchange for my post about my experience.

Set up was super easy. I downloaded the app, and it walked me right through all of the steps. Easy Peasy! The baby camera I chose is turqoise, they also have “pistachio” and “cotton candy” available. The monitor is made of a soft silicone, and the bottom stick part of the camera is flexible so it can be wrapped around the crib or the cute white tree wall mount that is provided. We tried ours in a few different areas before we settled on mounting it above the crib on the tree mount. They also included 2 sleek white cord protectors, so however you decide to mount the monitor, you can keep the cords out of your little ones reach! It really does seem like they thought of it all, they even went as far as to include a little alcohol wipe for cleaning the area where you want to put the wall mount!

First thing, I was super concerned about using my phone as the handheld part. I worried what if my phone dies, or do I have to keep the app open all night? Things like that. And I’m here to tell you, I was 100% wrong. What is the 1 item you usually have right in your hand or in your pocket? Y O U R P H O N E. I’m also 100% more likely to charge my phone than any other electronic, so with our previous systems, the handheld part was always dead, then I’d have to find the specific cord to charge it. It was always such a production. Now, I lay the baby down, and bam, I see him, right on my phone.

There is a feature called screen off, when this is on, I can exit the lollipop app, and do whatever I need to on my phone, while the app continues to play audio from his room, so I can’t see him, but I can still hear him. I don’t use this feature much, I have mine set to send me notifications when the noise hits a certain level in his room, super helpful when I’ve got a rambunctious toddler roaming around the house. Additionally helpful because my phone also sends notifications to my watch, so even if I don’t have my phone right by me, I know whatโ€™s going on! I also have it set up to tell me when the baby moves past a certain point, called cross detection, so I know when he’s starting to stir.

Another feature we love is within the notifications. It actually records a 30 second event video when something is going on. We are sleep training, so it’s very helpful to wake up and say “okay, when did he wake up last night, what are our patterns. What can we do to improve?” OR “oh he only fussed for a minute or 2, then went back to sleep on his own! YAY!”

The monitor shows the noise level in dB, the date, time. There is a button to turn off the sound, minimize and maximize the screen. From my phone I can control 6 music options that play in the room, like Chopin and Mozart and 6 “noise” options, like hair dryer, ocean noise and womb!

I can also use my phone as a walkie talkie and talk to him, or send my shushes when he’s fussing and trying to soothe himself!

The image quality of the video on my phone is far superior to what we’ve used in the past. I can actually zoom in and see if his eyes are open, and even in the night vision, I can clearly see that his back is rising and falling with his breath.

I purchased our Lollipop camera on Amazon, as of today, March 12 2019, it is listed as $149. This is actually less expensive than the 2 other monitors we’ve purchased and have been unsatisfied with in the past. As I mentioned before, I was given a discount on this product, but now knowing what I know, I would most certainly spend full price on it. Peace of mind when it comes to the safety of my peanuts is worth a lot.

All in all, I have absolutely NO complaints about this system, I only wish I would have found it sooner! The only issue we’ve had so far, is on 2 different occasions, there has been a slight lag in the video and audio, so it actually sounds like 2 babies are crying. That’ll get your tush out of bed quickly, I tell you what! Ha. ๐Ÿ˜‚ This lag issue is likely related to my wifi and has only happened twice. We definitely need to update our wifi equipment. We have been using this Lollipop exclusively for nearly 3 weeks now, and aside from the little lag, I haven’t had a single issue with the camera or the app. It has been very easy to use and I would highly suggest this system to anyone looking for a new monitor! Thanks Lollipop, 10/10 you knocked it out of the park with this one! I’m so happy that we finally have a system we love! Have a super day everyone! Thanks for reading. ๐Ÿ˜‰
